Board & Advisory Roles

Independent contribution where it matters most.

I consider a limited number of board, advisory-board and chairman advisory appointments where my experience can add sustained strategic value.

Particular contribution

Strategy · Transactions · Investment · Transformation · Growth · Technology · GCC

An independent view, grounded in execution.

Boards create the most value when they improve the quality of the organisation’s choices without crossing into management. I bring a combination of strategic advisory, transaction, development, operating and founder experience to that boundary.

The strongest fit is with organisations facing meaningful growth, investment, portfolio or transformation decisions — particularly across the UAE and GCC and in sectors where capital, assets, technology and operating performance intersect.

Contribution

Where I can add value

  1. 01

    Strategic direction

Challenge the strategic logic, surface trade-offs and help the board maintain focus on the choices with the greatest enterprise consequence.

  2. 02

    Investment and transactions

Bring transaction judgment to acquisitions, disposals, partnerships, capital allocation and major investment decisions.

  3. 03

    Transformation oversight

Help the board distinguish between activity and material progress while preserving management accountability for delivery.

  4. 04

    Growth and new ventures

Assess new markets, business models, partnerships and technology-enabled opportunities with an operator’s view of execution.

  5. 05

    CEO and executive alignment

Support clear dialogue between the board and management around priorities, decisions, performance and capacity.

Appointment formats

A bounded, useful role

The mandate should be explicit about authority, access, time commitment and the decisions on which contribution is expected.

Board adviser

Independent counsel to the board around defined strategic, investment or transformation priorities.

Advisory-board member

Ongoing contribution where formal director duties are not required but continuity and external perspective matter.

Chairman or owner adviser

Confidential counsel to a principal on strategic direction, portfolio choices and special situations.

Non-executive role

Selective formal appointments where sector, commercial and governance fit is strong.

Committee contribution

Participation in strategy, investment, transformation or special committees.

Special situation

A time-bounded board-sponsored role around a transaction, major initiative or period of change.

Working principles

Clear boundaries. Direct contribution.

Independent

Advice is given in the interests of the organisation and the decision, without a product, transaction or implementation team to sell.

Prepared

Contribution begins with context, evidence and a clear understanding of what the board is being asked to decide.

Commercial

Discussion stays connected to customers, capital, capability, timing and the operating consequences of the choice.

Constructive

Challenge should improve the decision and the team’s ability to execute it, not simply identify flaws.

Discreet

Sensitive matters remain handled with the confidentiality expected of a senior board relationship.

Selective

I accept only a limited number of appointments so each receives the attention and independence it requires.
